Located in Botswana’s enviably wild Khwai Private Reserve, beautiful Sable Alley overlooks a lagoon where wild game come to drink.
Sable Alley was completely rebuilt in 2017, but still retains its enviable location overlooking a hippo-filled lagoon where elephants and large herds of plains game often come to drink. From the camp’s swimming pool, lounge and al fresco sitting areas, there are uninterrupted views of the wilderness surrounding the lodge – best enjoyed with cool drink in hand.
A beautifully designed and luxurious lodge, Sable Alley accommodates guests in 12 stylish, spacious guest tents, including 2 Family tents and 1 Honeymoon tent. The canvas-walled tents are sophisticated and feature a small sitting area, a writing desk and Afro-chic décor. The ensuite bathrooms are just as spacious, fitted with double basins and indoor and outdoor showers. Built to blend into their natural environment, the rooms are all raised on timber decks and have their own private verandas.
The main lodge is also designed with the spectacular views in mind and offers sensational vistas from almost every vantage point. Central to the lodge is the lovely lounge, dining and bar area, with a number of extra comfortable couches, armchairs and plump cushions. Adjacent to the lounge is large outdoor deck with 2 sitting areas and ample outdoor dining space perfect for warm nights. On the other side of the main lounge area is a beautiful swimming pool and sundeck, often a popular spot in between morning and afternoon excursions.
There are several activities available at this sensational safari camp, exploring the surrounding 494,000-acre Khwai Private Reserve. Activities centre on traditional morning, afternoon or early evening 4WD game drives as well as opportunities to lace up the boots and go on a guided walk. You can also enjoy being poled through reed-lined waterways in a mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) or boating if water levels permit. Not to be missed is the Skybeds experience, where guests spend one night sleeping on a bed atop a multi-level timber platform, open to the starry night skies.
