The Sarova Stanley

Kenya’s first luxury hotel, The Sarova Stanley continues to offer the same high standards of accommodation and world-class dining experiences as it did over a century ago.

Kenya’s first luxury hotel, The Sarova Stanley continues to uphold its distinguished reputation by offering visitors the same high levels of accommodation and world-class dining experiences as it did when it opened over a century ago. There are 212 plush rooms at this handsome heritage property, featuring a nostalgic Victorian ambience yet fitted with all the amenities expected in a 21st-century premium hotel.

This hotel is the home of the legendary open-air Thorn Tree Cafe, presided over by an acacia on which “tree mail” is pinned. This tradition began in the early 1900s, when travellers used the cafe as a kind of post office and meeting place, attaching letters and messages to the thorn tree’s trunk. It also houses one of Africa’s most authentic Thai restaurants, a colonial-style bar and a wonderful poolside restaurant.

Guests at The Sarova Stanley enjoy access to a full-service health club which contains a gym, aerobics studio, steam room, sauna and massage rooms. This comprehensive facility adjoins the swimming pool on the fifth floor of this historic hotel.
