Relais and Châteaux Kenya Safari
This curated Kenyan safari combines two Relais and Châteaux status safari camps with iconic Giraffe Manor.
Kenya’s famous wildlife parks offer outstanding game viewing and on this truly authentic Kenya safari you will be staying at some of the best camps and lodges in all of Africa. Starting in Nairobi with one night at the world-famous Giraffe Manor, you will get to meet the resident Rothschild’s Giraffes up-close; they may even pop their heads in through the window at breakfast!
Heading out into the wilderness you will fly by light aircraft to Ol Donyo Lodge, a Relais and Châteaux property in the beautiful Chyulu Hills within sight of Mount Kilimanjaro. This is elephant country where huge bull tuskers still roam the savannah. Situated on a 111,000-hectare private ranch, you will enjoy 3 nights in a luxury suite with star beds for an optional sleep-out under the stars, an extensive outdoor deck that boasts a private plunge pool and views across the rolling plains. Explore the surrounding wilderness on guided walking safaris, game drives and mountain bikes, or alternatively visit nearby Amboseli National Park before returning to Relais and Châteaux expert service, fine dining, and excellent wines.
Complete your journey at the unparalleled Mara Plains Camp, set in the 13,300-hectare Olare Motorola Conservancy – right in the heart of big cat territory. Guests staying here help contribute to the ongoing success of the Masai Mara ecosystem, as well as helping to support over 1,000 Maasai families. The Conservancy boasts one of the lowest vehicle densities in the Maasai Mara region, whilst also having some of the highest numbers of big cats anywhere in Africa. Some 300 bird species have also been recorded here. Each suite boasts splendid interiors, with deep canvas canopied ceilings, as well as a large private verandah and in-suite dining facilities.
Masai Mara – Great Migration
Meaning “spotted” in the local Maa language of the Maasai, the rolling plains of this beautiful game reserve are dappled with sun and shadows, as well as distinctive acacia trees. From July to October each year, the Masai Mara plays host to one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth – the annual wildebeest and zebra migration. Every year, 2 million western white-bearded wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle migrate here from Tanzania’s Serengeti, searching for water and grass.
