Wings over Kenya
Maximise the time that you spend exploring Kenya’s game parks on our Wings Over Kenya safari, flying into the Samburu and Masai Mara.
Maximise the time that you spend exploring Kenya’s beautiful game parks on our Wings Over Kenya safari, flying into wilderness areas to experience the authentic safaris of old. The following is a sample itinerary which combines Kenya’s two most popular parks – the arid Samburu and the iconic Masai Mara. However this tour can be tailored to visit more than just these two parks and for any duration using a combination of air and/or road transport. You can also choose from a range of excellent lodges and camps, all which operate their own game activities.
For a more exclusive experience, we can arrange private game drives in your own vehicle with one of Origin’s own professional guides. Transport on safari is by custom-built 4WD vehicle, specially designed for gameviewing and photography.
- Samburu, with its colourful tribes and specially adapted wildlife you won’t find elsewhere in Kenya
- The Masai Mara, full of classic “Out of Africa” landscapes and host to the epic wildebeest and zebra migration
- Exceptional gameviewing and opportunity for cultural experiences
- Excellent guides and the ability to fly from place to place, saving you precious time
Kenya’s major capital Nairobi is the main entry point into the country. Major airlines that fly into Nairobi include British Airways, Etihad Airways, Emirates, Lufthansa and Air France. From Nairobi, Kenya Airways offers flights to other popular African destinations including South Africa, Uganda, Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
Wings over Kenya
Sample Itinerary
6 days/5 nights
Day 1
Nairobi
Arrival transfer to your hotel.
Days 2/3
Samburu
Transfer to Wilson Airport for your flight to Samburu. Stay at a camp of your choice (see p108) and go on game drives in search of Kenya’s iconic big game, as well as endemic dry-adapted species such as Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe and gerenuk. As the animals tend to converge at the Uaso Nyiro River that cuts through the reserve, gameviewing here is consistently good.
Days 4/5
Masai Mara
Transfer by air to the Masai Mara, one of the world’s finest wildlife sanctuaries. Choose from the camps featured on p105 or any of the camps on pages 113-117. The Mara supports the largest diversity of species in Africa and hosts the famous wildebeest migration between Jul-Sep. We strongly recommend 2 nights or more in the Masai Mara.
Day 6
Return to Nairobi
Morning game drive before your flight back to Nairobi. Transfer to city hotel or airport on arrival, enjoying lunch on the way. Tour ends.
