Accommodation is provided in just 7 tented suites, each named after a local animal and furnished with a four-poster bed romantically draped in mosquito netting, comfortable shaded area to sit and a fully plumbed ensuite bathroom.
Dining takes place in a communal space, with hand-carved wooden tables softly lit by flickering hurricane lanterns. Food is a real highlight, using only the finest and freshest produce, with dishes a tantalising fusion of Malagasy and French cuisines. Drinks available include refreshing fruit juices as well as a selection of imported wines and spirits.
Activities at Mandrare River Camp centre around the region’s weird and wonderful creatures; explore the terrain on foot or by 4X4, expanding your knowledge of Madagascar’s weird and wonderful natural environment. An impressive five species of lemur may be seen during your stay here, plus a huge array of amphibians, reptiles and birds. Cultural highlights include a visit to the local market, with a chance to tour sacred tombs, witness ancient ceremonies and watch traditional musical performances.

Scheduled flights leave from Antananarivo several times a week to Fort Dauphin (now known as Tolagnaro). Mandrare River Camp is 3.5 hours’ drive from this historic seaside city.
