Nestled on a private estate set amid dense rainforest, Vakona Forest Lodge offers visitors outstanding wildlife experiences as well as a peaceful setting to relax. There are 28 guest bungalows scattered throughout the property’s lush gardens, each equipped with ensuite bathrooms and four-poster beds draped in mosquito netting. Your furnished personal veranda offers an ideal place for a quiet cuppa whilst admiring native flora.
At the heart of Vakona Forest Lodge is a large restaurant, with a terrace facing a lovely lake. On cold days, a fireplace keeps the place cosy, whilst on sunny days, there is the option of eating outside. Also in this area is a pool table, ping pong table and a TV lounge. Other recreational facilities include a network of interesting walking trails and an outdoor swimming pool.
Activities at Vakona Forest Lodge include canoeing, horseback riding and visits to Vakona Private Reserve where lemurs and other exotic Madagascan wildlife can be observed. Species you may see during the day include the black-and-white ruffed lemur, the common brown lemur and the ring-tailed lemur whilst after dark, you’ll have chances to see chameleons, mouse lemur and the unique Madagascar nightjar.
