Discover the beauty of Namibia’s remarkable NamibRand Nature Reserve at superb Kwessi Dunes
A vast desert wilderness spanning over 200,00 hectares, the NamibRand Nature Reserve offers visits ethereal landscapes of rolling desert plains and iconic red dune seas.
Guests will not see large quantities of game here. Instead, visitors soak up dramatic desert views, spend evenings gazing at the night sky and spot desert-adapted wildlife such as a range of antelope from gemsbok to springbok, bat-eared fox, and perhaps, black-backed jackals and aardwolves.
Built in 2020, Kwessi Dunes boasts just 12 comfortable (and air-conditioned) chalets. Each feature four-poster beds, ensuite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers and a lovely, shaded veranda with endless desert views.
The views from the main lodge are equally as spectacular, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling glass windows and doors. Communal areas include several lounge and dining areas, a well-stocked bar, and a library. There is also a welcoming fire pit, where guests enjoy a morning coffee or evening drink, as well as a refreshing swimming pool – popular during the middle of the day.
Stargazer Room
Guests can choose to sleep inside their comfortable rooms or, out under the stars, in a separate “star gazer” room. Completely open to the elements, this bedroom is the perfect spot to stargaze in complete comfort and privacy.
Activities at Kwessi Dunes
There is no shortage of activities to enjoy out in the desert. Morning and afternoon game drives open your eyes to the striking scenery and unique wildlife of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Nature walks offer a different perspective of the landscape, while quad biking excursions are also popular. Hot air balloon and scenic helicopter flights are also available at an additional cost – offering a birds-eye view of the dramatic landscape.
