Legendary Lodge sits in the foothills of Mount Meru near the Tanzanian town of Arusha. Arusha is the gateway to the country’s famous northern safari circuit which includes must-do safari destinations like the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park.
Legendary Lodge is hidden within lush gardens on a coffee plantation, and the 10 private cottages offer guests a quiet and relaxing setting. The cottages boast comfortable oversized beds beneath large mosquito netting, beautiful hardwood floors and a lovely sitting area. Each cottage also has its own ensuite bathroom fitted with both a shower and a claw-footed bathtub, as well as a quiet, private veranda looking out onto the gardens or with a view of the mountain. The lodge also offers two family cottages.
The main lodge and the rooms are decorated in a unique blend of African art and colonial-style and offer a touch of sophistication in an idyllic setting. The central area has a homely feel with a cosy lounge area furnished with comfortable couches in front of a roaring fireplace as well as both indoor and outdoor dining areas. There is also a glorious wood-topped bar offering a range of alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) beverages and an outdoor sitting area and fireplace on the extensive terrace. Masterful chefs have created a mouth-watering dining menu that is always artfully presented, whilst freshly brewed coffee in the morning is always a highlight.
A place to relax
With its beautiful setting, Legendary Lodge is the perfect spot for safari-goers to relax after the non-stop action of a Tanzanian safari. Guests can wander in the tranquil gardens – sometimes frequented by small antelope such as dik dik – swim in the large outdoor pool or visit the day spa which has a wide range of options including massages, manicures or pedicures.
Activities
Other activities include a tour of the neighbouring coffee plantation to learn about the coffee process from bean to cup. Bicycles are also available to explore the plantation and there are also excursions to nearby Arusha, with its bustling markets.
