Tongabezi Lodge and Sindabezi Island

Tongabezi Lodge and Sindabezi Island are two fabulous properties that showcase the beauty of the Zambezi River. Both offer incredible luxury in completely wild settings.

Just 20 minutes from Livingstone, Tongabezi Lodge is a collection of 5 very exclusive cottages and 6 standalone private holiday homes on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River. All are unbelievably luxurious and have their own valet who will cater to your every whim, yet no two are the same in style or character. Some are designed for romance, with claw-foot bathtubs and private pools, whilst others are perfect for families, being spacious and relaxed in atmosphere.

Sindabezi Island is an intimate hideaway 15km upstream of the great Victoria Falls, comprised of just 5 chalets, built on stilts and very open to the outdoors, so guests can fall asleep enjoying the sounds of the wild African bush. Whilst surrounded by nothing but wilderness, guests have every luxury they could ever want, from mood lighting and plentiful hot water to gourmet meals and a well-stocked bar.

Things to do at both Tongabezi Lodge and Sindabezi Island include a visit to the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, canoeing or fishing the Zambezi River, a private meal or sundowner drinks of an isolated sandbar, a sunset boat cruise, a tour of the local school, market or traditional village as well as classic game drives through reserves teeming with iconic African wildlife. Should you wish to take part in high-adrenalin activities, staff will be more than happy to arrange things such as scenic flights, white water rafting and abseiling.

Zambia Overview

Why should I travel to Zambia?
Apart from being the site of the magnificent Victoria Falls, Zambia also offers game-rich wildlife parks that are relatively unspoiled by mass tourism. For the more adventurous, there are walking safaris and canoeing trips along the Zambezi River.

What is the climate like in Zambia?
There are 3 distinct seasons – cool and dry from May-July (23°-25°C) but cold at night, hot and dry from August-October (30°-40°C), and warm and wet from November-April (28°-35°C).

What can I combine Zambia with?
Zambia is best combined with its closest neighbours such as Botswana and Zimbabwe – which both offer amazing scenery and wildlife. South Africa is another option, where you can explore picturesque Cape Town, Table Mountain and the Cape Winelands.

How to get to Zambia?
There are regular flights daily from Johannesburg in South Africa to the Zambian capital of Lusaka, where you can board connecting flights to a range of safari camps. There are also regular flights from Johannesburg into Livingstone, a large town close to the Victoria Falls.

USA – There are no direct flights to Lusaka from the United States. The best connections are via Johannesburg, UAE or Nairobi.

UK/EU – Again there are no direct flights into Lusaka from anywhere in Europe. The best connections are via Johannesburg, UAE or Nairobi.
