For a true outback adventure, head a little further north to the dramatic Flinders Rangers. From Adelaide, it’s just a short flight to Melbourne, often considered Australia’s sporting capital and the most liveable city in the world. Alternatively, it is also driving distance and a stop at Victoria’s Grampians National Park is a fantastic way to break up the journey.

Days 1/2
Adelaide
Your journey begins in the South Australian capital of Adelaide. Home to a superb restaurant and nightlife scene, there are also terrific beachside suburbs to experience, including Glenelg and Brighton. The Mayfair also boasts a beautiful rooftop bar (one of the only rooftop bars in the city) with fantastic views and an excellent selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. During the AFL season (March-September) watch a game of Australian Rules Football at the impressive Adelaide Oval precinct, just north of the CBD.
Days 3-5
Kangaroo Island
Drive south to Cape Jervis, where you will board the ferry to Penneshaw on idyllic Kangaroo Island. On disembarking, continue driving to Southern Ocean Lodge, a luxury lodge locate on the south-west corner of the island , or Ecopia Retreat in the island’s centre. The lodge sits on the very top of the cliff-line, with sensational views of the Southern Ocean. Over the next three days explore Flinders Chase National Park, home to the Glossy Black Cockatoo, or visit some of the coastal hotspots including Seal Bay and the Kelly Hill Caves on guided or self-guided tours. Days 6-8
Barossa Valley
Today, self-drive back to Penneshaw and board the ferry back to the mainland. Carry on north to South Australia’s premier wine district, the Barossa Valley and spend the next 3 nights at The Louise. During the next 3 days, enjoy a variety of tours and adventures exploring all the Barossa Valley has to offer. Start your day with a guided yoga or meditation session, or perhaps enjoy “Breakfast with the Roos” in the nearby Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park (20 minute drive). Countless wine experiences can be had at legendary wineries including Elderton Wines, Two Hands and Seppeltsfield Estate. Other activities include bike hike, a visit to a local Farmers Market, and a behind the scenes look at the Casa Carboni Cooking School, learning the secrets of a traditional Italian pasta. Their are a host of other activities to discover, including vintage car tours and hot air balloon rides. At the end of each day, experience the very best of South Australian dining at The Louise’s signature restaurant – Appellation. B D
