RV Bengal Ganga
Designed to resemble the colonial ‘Clyde’ steamers utilised throughout India at the height of the British Raj
The charming RV Bengal Ganga is a comfortable 60-metre vessel designed to resemble the colonial ‘Clyde’ steamers utilised throughout India at the height of the British Raj. Carrying a total of 56 passengers, the ship has 28 air-conditioned cabins with private ensuite bathrooms spread across the lower, main and upper decks.
Indian and international dishes are prepared fresh on board, with meals served in a dedicated dining room on the main deck. A single television is available in the bar, whilst the sundeck is generously furnished with loungers and chairs where you can catch up with your holiday reading or simply take in the views.
Throughout your cruise along the sacred Ganges and an important tributary – the Hooghly or Ganga River – you are accompanied by an English-speaking tour manager. The pace is relaxed, with the opportunity to stop and explore local villages, historic and religious sites. The 6-day voyage takes you along the Hooghly River between Kolkata and Jangipur, with the option of extending your journey sailing along the Ganges proper, all the way to mystical Varanasi.
