Located in the remote and starkly beautiful Ahuriri Valley, The Lindis is a hidden paradise far from civilisation.
This beautiful valley has been carved out over millions of years by the glacial waters of the Ahuriri River. A hidden gem in New Zealand’s South Island, the property sits on the valley floor looking out over the rugged wilderness. Guests will really feel a sense of wonder and seclusion at The Lindis, with the closest major city Queenstown located 3-hours’ drive south.
Masterfully designed, the lodge pays homage to the contours of the earth – the elegant wooden slatted roof blends seamlessly into the natural undulations of the landscape. The interior is just as beautifully thought out; and uses natural rock and timber materials, accompanied by elegant furniture and artwork to create a sense of harmony along with a peaceful, welcoming space. The sweeping floor to ceiling windows offer impressive views of the valley beyond.
A member of the revered Luxury Lodges of New Zealand, this intimate lodge has just 5 spacious suites along with 3 “pods” nestled in the landscape and only a stone’s throw from the lodge. The 5 suites all offer sweeping views of the valley through floor-to-ceiling windows and feature ensuite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor seating areas, gas fire places and a super king size bed. Each guestroom is fitted with beautiful furniture, linens and toiletries creating a warm haven in the middle of the wilderness that guests will struggle to leave.
The onsite restaurant serves uniquely ‘New Zealand’ style cuisine. Head Chef Olly Le Maitre and his team create dishes that reflect the season. The daily menus use top-quality ingredients that, more often than not, are locally sourced from the onsite garden. Coupled with superb service from expert staff and carefully selected local and international wines, the restaurant creates a refined dining experience that will leave guests with unforgettable memories.
Pods
The three pods make guests truly feel like part of the landscape. The pods are designed with double-glazed glass on three sides offering unrivalled views and creating a sense of remoteness. Similar to the lodge suites, but smaller in size (18m²) they feature ensuite bathrooms, king sized beds, an outdoor sitting area and luxury linen and toiletries. There is also a peaceful and private outdoor bathtub to enjoy at leisure.
Excursions
Just like the landscape, activities at the lodge are incredibly diverse. The lodge has a 14-bay stable (currently occupied by 12 horses 1 foal) and there are a number of horse riding excursions available for keen riders. Fly-fishing, buggy tours, back-country fishing, heli-tours, heli-skiing, e-bikes are just some of the other options available*. Alternatively, there are plenty of self-guided walking and hiking trails that allow guests to discover the stunning wilderness landscapes.
*All activities other than self-guided are at extra cost. Please contact us for details.
