One of the most unique hotels in Sri Lanka’s vibrant capital, Residence occupies a beautifully restored 19th century mansion that once hosted British governors, Indian royalty and the cream of Ceylon society. Although mere steps from the attractions of Colombo, the property is an oasis of quiet calm, set on a leafy street amid well-established private gardens.
Accommodation is offered in 11 opulent suites, whose decor is a delicate balance between old and new. Expect plush rugs, inviting chaise lounges and elegant timber furniture, as well as flat screen TVs and espresso machines. All have access to private outdoor courtyards, a library, 16m swimming pool and well-equipped gym.
The Residence’s exclusive restaurant offers a wide range of gourmet meals, sweet treats as well as a well-stocked wine cellar. Dine overlooking the pool, al fresco or in your own room. There is also a bar where aperitifs can be enjoyed. Should you wish to go out for a meal, staff will happily point you in the right direction, make reservations or arrange a taxi.
