Jungle Beach

Jungle Beach is a secluded beach resort in Trincomalee on Sri Lanka’s unspoilt northeastern coast with the feel of a luxurious tree house.

Tucked beneath verdant mature trees and plenty of understorey plant life, Jungle Beach is a secluded beach resort on Sri Lanka’s unspoilt northeastern coast with the feel of a luxurious tree house. Three choices of room are available: beach, lagoon or jungle-facing. All are generously sized, and designed for guests to appreciate their natural environments, with large windows and furnished verandas. Some also have inviting outdoor showers.

The sprawling main swimming pool is artfully nestled amid lush foliage and lily ponds, with illumination by lanterns at night so atmospheric poolside dinners can be enjoyed. Guests may also feast by firelit beside the ocean – an alternative to eating in Jungle Beach’s breezy bar and restaurant.

The highlight of the area is without a doubt the white, sandy beaches such as Nilaveli and Uppaveli, as well as the deep water Trincomalee, a desirable water sports destination. There are also a host of cultural and historical attractions to visit, from the dizzying rocky promontory at Lover’s Leap to Fort Frederick, the Kanniya Hot Springs and Thiriyai Temple. Seasonal whale-watching is possible off the coast whilst a tour of Kokkilai Lagoon is worthwhile if you’re interested in birding.
