Join James Cameron, one of our Africa destination specialists, on this 15-day small group safari exploring Namibia’s spectacular landscapes.
This vast country of giant sand dunes, rugged coastline and unique vegetation is home to just three million people, some of whom have lived here for countless generations. It is a timeless land, evidenced by still living ancient cultures, stone age rock art, fossilised trees, and desert adapted wildlife.
Taking in many of Namibia’s amazing highlights, this special itinerary has been carefully curated by James himself, along with our expert safari operator on the ground. James will escort the safari from Windhoek, accompanied by a local naturalist guide, making this a fascinating and stress-free journey of discovery.
The accommodation throughout the safari has been chosen for its location and comfort, in small boutique hotels, eco lodges and safari camps, all with ensuite bathrooms. Transport is by Land Cruisers equipped with pop-up roofs for better photography and game viewing vantage points, air conditioning, VHF radios, onboard fridge/freezers and plenty of water.

US – Flying to Namibia from the United States requires at least one stop over. The easiest way is via Frankfurt, Germany or Doha, Qatar. Both Lufthansa and Qatar Airways fly directly into Windhoek.
UK/Europe – Again, the most direct access is via Frankfurt, Germany or Doha with Qatar Airways. Alternatively, South African Airways and British Airways fly to South Africa’s capital Johannesburg. From there you can fly to Windhoek with Airlink or South African Airways.

15 days/14 nights
Day 1
Windhoek
On arrival at Windhoek airport, we will be met by our tour representative and transferred to our hotel in Windhoek, Galton House. D
Days 2/3
Sossusvlei
We meet our private guide and drive down the Great Escarpment into the Namib Desert and Sossusvlei, home to some of the most spectacular sand dunes in the world. During our stay we will visit famous Sesriem Canyon and Elim Dune, soaking up the stark yet ethereal beauty of the landscapes. B L D
Days 4-6
Swakopmund
We drive through the ever-changing desert landscapes of the Namib-Naukluft National Park to Walvis Bay on the coast and continue to Swakopmund, known for its German colonial architecture. Next day we will enjoy a full day Shipwreck Sandwich Harbour 4×4 excursion, taking in a lagoon home to a flock of flamingos, enjoy lunch with a selection of fresh oysters, meat and fish before heading back towards Swakopmund over some exhilarating dunes. The third day is free to explore the area or take a dolphin cruise, scenic flight, dune tour or other activities at extra cost. B L D
Days 7 – 9
Damaraland
Today we continue on our safari as we head to the vast desert landscapes of Damaraland with its magnificent table topped mountains, rock formations and strange vegetation. A highlight is the petrified forest of fossilized 280-million-year-old trees and some of the best preserved etchings and rock art dating back 6,000 years at Twyfelfontein. We will also explore the wilderness on game drives in search of desert-adapted species such as oryx, elephant, rhino, lion, and zebra. B L D
Day 10
Ongava Game Reserve
Drive to the southern border of Etosha National Park and enjoy a game drive in the Ongava Private Game Reserve, a haven for wildlife, in particular black and white rhino. Our accommodation at Ongava Lodge overlooks a waterhole and the plains beyond. B L D
Days 11/12
Onguma Private Reserve
We enjoy a full day of exciting game viewing as we cross from the south of Etosha National Park via selected waterholes usually good for game viewing, to the eastern side. Before sunset we leave the park and head to our delightful camp in Onguma Private Reserve overlooking a floodlit waterhole. Etosha has many shallow pans, or saline depressions, which in the late dry season are a magnet for hundreds of animals. Proclaimed a park in 1907, it is home to four of the Big Five and offers amazing game sightings all year round. B L D
Day 13
Okonjima Nature Reserve
Our guided drive takes us to Okonjima Nature Reserve, covering over 200 square kms and home of the AfriCat Foundation. Here we enjoy superb accommodation and fantastic activities; starting with a guided afternoon AfriCat activity. The AfriCat Foundation seeks to conserve large carnivores like leopards and brown hyenas in Namibia and conducts ecological research on rare and endangered species. A stay at Okonjima offers the best chance to view wild leopard in their natural habitats. B L D

James Cameron – Destination Specialist
Growing up with tour operators as parents, James spent many family holidays visiting unique destinations worldwide, which instilled in him a passion for travel, culture and wildlife. His first safari was in 2002 to Kenya and Tanzania, and a long-lasting highlight of that trip was camping in the endless plains of the Serengeti, listening to the roar of lions at night. Since then, he has returned many times to the continent, and has spent time volunteering in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, explored Botswana’s game-rich wildlife areas, journeyed onboard Rovos Rail from Durban to Pretoria, wandered the fascinating cities of Morocco, and discovered the wonders of ancient Egypt. James has also visited Antarctica twice, most recently in February 2023. A highlight of that trip was kayaking within a few metres of humpback whales on multiple occasions. James escorted our inaugural Classic Botswana & Zimbabwe group tours in 2024, and is excited to lead this small group tour and discover the wonders of Namibia with clients in 2026.
