7 days/6 nights ex Maun, Botswana
Days 1 – 3
Jack’s Camp
Today transfer from Maun by light aircraft to romantic Jack’s Camp, located in a private concession adjacent to the otherworldly landscapes of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. One of Africa’s most iconic and opulent camps, the evocative guest tents and central mess tent pay homage to its past, adorned in vintage 1940’s style campaign furniture.
The beautiful salt pans seem to extend endlessly for miles, and the dramatic landscape is home to fascinating desert species including brown hyena, porcupine and aardwolf.
There are two distinct seasons – dry and green – so some activities here are only available at certain times. During the green season (Dec-April) rains transform the landscape into beautiful grassland. Meanwhile the dry season (May-mid-November) provides a stark comparison of dry landscapes dotted with palm trees and small islands amid a sea of desert. Activities at Jack’s Camp include game drives, walking with the Bushmen, quad biking (seasonal) and a visit to see the semi-habituated meerkats. D (Day 1) B L D (Days 2-3)
